KARL OSTERHOUT: So what's the most common question clients ask us? They want to know why do I need a Social Security lawyer. Well there are many reasons, but here's the most important. First, we continually review all changes in the law. Regulations change constantly and you need a lawyer that's on top of that day in and day out.
We also do a lot of the leg work that's crucial for a successful hearing. We review the evidence that Social Security has in its file and we contact your doctors to make sure that the medical records the judge needs to see are in the file prior to the hearing. We may also ask that any previous application you filed be reopened which could increase the amount of back benefits you receive when you win.
And here's one of the most important things we can do for you, we'll prepare you for your hearing three times. First we'll send you some information to read. And then we'll literally go through all the questions you'll be asked at the hearing. All the way up to the final minutes before you're hearing we'll continue to make sure you understand how your statements could help your case and go over all of your testimony again.
On the day of the hearing, we'll present your case in whichever way the judge asks us too. We've handled more than 25,000 cases so you can be sure we're ready for anything. There's literally nothing we haven't seen before.
And then after the hearing, when the judge's decision comes in, we'll explain how your benefits will be computed, or we'll go over your options for an appeal if your case was not successful. Remember, Social Security Disability is all we do, we know how cases are won. We're your Social Security Disability attorneys.
