Three Important Things Video Transcript

LINDSAY BROWN: There are three things you can and must do to greatly increase your chances of winning a Social Security disability case.

[GRAPHIC: Osterhout Disability Law, LLC 1. Hire an attorney as soon as possible Experienced Aggressive Personal]

LINDSAY BROWN: First, you should hire your Social Security attorney as soon as possible. The more time we have to obtain evidence and prepare your case, the better. Whether you've already been denied, your hearing has already been scheduled or if the judge has granted you more time to obtain an attorney, you should still contact us immediately. Chances are we can still help.

LINDSAY BROWN: Second, and this is extremely important, you should be receiving ongoing treatment for your medical condition. See the specialist your primary care doctor refers you to.

LINDSAY BROWN: For instance, see a neurologist if you're having severe headaches, a psychiatrist or counselor if you're depressed, or a rheumatologist, physiatrist or pain clinic if you have fibromyalgia. If you haven't been seeing a doctor, the judge is not likely to agree that you have a debilitating condition. We are not medical experts, but your primary doctor is and that's who will give you a referral if you're not already seeing a specialist.

LINDSAY BROWN: Finally, this may seem obvious, but you must be sure to stay in contact with us. If you move and don't tell us it could result in a long delay of your case. And we need to know everything that's going on with your medical condition and treatments. If you withhold health information because you're afraid it might hurt your case, you're only hurting yourself.

We keep all information in the strictest confidence and believe that trust and open communication is the cornerstone of a successful relationship between an attorney and client. Remember, we're your Social Security Disability attorneys.
